Karen Rouse

Karen Rouse is a Bronx-born, South Jersey-reared, first-generation American journalist who made the switch from newspapers to radio in 2014. She works as a reporter for WNYC radio in New York City.

Rouse has written for The Denver Post, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and The Record in New Jersey. She has won awards for coverage of charter school funding, issues of race, and an investigation of NJ Transit’s mishandling of rail equipment during Hurricane Sandy.

Rouse earned her B.A from Douglass College, Rutgers University-New Brunswick, and her M. A. from Rutgers-Newark. She enjoys mentoring aspiring journalists, and serving as Youth Journalism International ambassador.
