New El-Alamein, EGYPT – As the population in Egypt is growing rapidly, the government started to work on building several new cities in order to shift the population density from older cities to newer ones.
One of these cities is New El-Alamein which is built to be, after Alexandria, one of the biggest on the north coast of Egypt.
New El-Alamein is a huge, modern and well-planned city that is still under construction.
According to the government, Egypt has spent nearly $8 billion U.S. dollars so far on the new city.
New El-Alamein is also attracting a lot of investment and tourists as it has really beautiful beaches with crystalline turquoise water along the Mediterranean Sea.
The city has many skyscrapers, malls, hotels and a really nice tourist walk.
It is well organized and it has many green, landscaped areas that may make you feel that you are not in Egypt, where cities don’t have many trees or grassy areas.
Costs for the most luxurious hotel is Rixos, where room rates in the off season, based on a five night stay, range from $3,575 per night for the presidential suite to $657 nightly for a junior suite with a sea view.
From my visit I can say that the city is a bit expensive compared to other places in Egypt but it’s still affordable and a really good place for tourists.
Nightlife there is so good, with music festivals and concerts all summer, New El-Alamein’s most popular season.
Great singers, celebrities and even TV presenters are also there during the three months of summer.
So if you are visiting Egypt in summer, please don’t miss out on New El-Alamein.
