Youth Journalism International Associate Editor Mariechen Puchert of Cape Town, South Africa, sailed into a port in Shanghai, China, last week as people prepared for the new year’s celebrations.
She wrote, “In the Old Chinese Marketplace surrounding the Yuyuan Gardens in Shanghai, the gardens are beautiful and serene. The gardens are more than 400 years old, while the marketplace was bustling with energy and anticipation for the Year of the Snake.”
Puchert is sailing around the world on a Semeseter At Sea university programe.
