WEST HARTFORD, Conn., U.S.A. β Youth Journalism International is tapping the talents of an accomplished alum as a new editor this summer.
YJI named Jessica Elsayed, a student at Denison University in Ohio, as an Associate Editor Friday.
Elsayed, who began writing for YJI in early 2010, quickly rose to prominence within the organization as she covered the Egyptian revolution from her hometown of Alexandria, on Egyptβs Mediterranean coast.
Her stellar work earned her YJIβs first Courage in Journalism award in 2011.
βJessica has everything it takes to be a great journalist β brains, compassion, curiosity, a desire to tell the story and excellent communication skills,β said Jackie Majerus, YJIβs executive director. βWe value her work and are thrilled that she can spend some of her summer break sharing her skills with YJI.β
