A little town in Texas that ‘satisfies the soul’

Midlothian, Texas, U.S.A. – Home is where your heart lies and what it continues to seek every day. I think this is the most important truth that I have ever had to realize because I have moved multiple times in my life, all to different places that made me feel different things.

Nailing down what I consider my hometown has been a difficult task, to say the least, but after some soul-searching and a roadblock when it comes to writing this, I know exactly what my answer is.

Midlothian, Texas has been the place where I feel my family has finally settled in, building a community all by ourselves and coming to a place where no one else was able to help us get on our feet. My family has always been strong, but now it finally feels like we’re at peace and have reached a nice point of harmony.

Midlothian is growing like much of America. A decade ago, it was so small that it wasn’t noticeable on most maps, and now it is growing into a place with its own identity. It is still in the comfortable phase between suburbia and a small town with all of the cliches.

From the undeveloped land that gives a country feel to the rows of houses with neighbors who actually know each other, it is as big as a close-knit community can get.

It actually makes it more impressive with how walkable and beautiful it is here, while it also does not feel like living in the middle of nowhere.

It does seem to be growing faster than people have been anticipating, making it slip further into what you would consider a big city-adjacent place to look and feel like, but it persists in maintaining its charm. It continues to thrive as a town that is mostly nice and quiet, a place to raise your family and send them to school.

It satisfies the soul by giving you what you expect out of a small town.

Although it may seem small and clandestine because of how much it refuses to change or how slow it adapts, if you are looking for a place to live with a “Sleepy Hollow”-esque feel, it provides it in spades.

The beautiful sky and land, the nice intimate town, the neighbors that you know – even though you may not like all of them – and the excellent sense of peace that you can have here are all present.
