Incheon, SOUTH KOREA – I was scrolling through my For You Page, FYP, like any other day.
Then I randomly found myself watching a clip of an interview on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” with Sadie Sink.
The interview’s purpose was to promote the new Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The viral clip was Sink reacting to popular internet fan theories of her upcoming role in the new movie.
“Sadie Sink, you are in the film Spider-Man: Brand New Day.”
“Correct.”
“You play the film’s main villain.”
“We have to wait and see.”
“You play Spider-Man’s other love interest, Gwen Stacy.”
“I guess we’ll find out.”
“You play Mayday Parker, the daughter of Peter and MJ, who eventually becomes Spider-Girl.”
“I don’t know.”
“You play Punisher sidekick Rachel Cole.”
“We’ll find out in theaters.”
“You play Firestar, who could be Spider-Man’s first superhero love interest.”
“Who knows?”
“This is the most popular internet theory. You play Jean Grey, who will bring a new era of X-Men mutants into the MCU.”
“Wouldn’t you like to know?”
The audience erupted into laughter at Sink’s impenetrable secrecy towards the new movie, and she did an excellent job because there wasn’t a single hint of what was going to happen.
But the Marvel fandom ended up scoring its theory about Sink starring as Jean Gray in the new movie, although the filmmakers tried their best to hide her participation until the movie’s official release.
The movie’s storyline picked up on the plot from the last movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home, released in 2021, where everybody who knows Peter Parker, played by Tom Holland, forgets his existence and identity.
With Jean Grey being the newest addition to the film, it added a whole other layer of depth to the story.
Jean and Sarah, Jean’s sister [Olivia Booth Ford], possess an ability that is a combination of telepathy and telekinesis, which is invaluable to the United States Department of Damage Control in the film. The Department acts as a corrupt government agency that hunts, captures, and experiments on mutants as well as super-powered individuals.
The story surrounds Jean, searching for her sister with one single clue that Sarah telepathically left her.
The film’s main antagonist, played by Tramell Tillman, is William “Bill” Metzger, who is the head of Damage Control. He desperately tries to capture Jean for her powers, as he previously did with Sarah, and continues to create antidotes for superheroes.
The main character of the film is Spider-Man, and of course, Peter Parker. His major character development in the film is struggling to reveal himself to both his old close friends and society, as well as discovering who he really is.
The story is about truly understanding who you are and that you can be whatever you want to be or imagine to be – it just takes a level of trust in yourself that not all change is negative.
The movie shows that sometimes people will do everything in their power to stop someone or something, but shows that perhaps you sometimes do have to take risks in this world.
I loved and strongly related to the moral of the story.
Filmmakers continued the iconic handshake tradition between Peter Parker and Ned Leeds, played by Jacob Batalon, which fans absolutely loved.
They also did a marvelous job with the stunts and camera angles that took the film to a whole other level.
As an avid movie enthusiast, there is no doubt that this movie marvelously crafted a clichéd moral without a clichéd storyline, totally opening up a new perspective.
I highly recommend this movie to all Marvel lovers and movie enthusiasts who want something fresh to watch that involves a good moral and story, amazing cinematography and small comedic moments.
