Youth Journalism International
Just one more reason to support YJI!What a year. For today, at least, I just want to mention the clear highlight of my 2022: Going to Istanbul back in June as part of a Youth Journalism International gathering that brought together two dozen students, alums and friends of this tiny but mighty charity. It turned out to be one of those extraordinary experiences that you hope for in life but rarely find. They came from Sweden, Pakistan, Wales, Colombia, Maryland, Iran, Turkiye, Cyprus, Scotland, Illinois, Mexico and Ukraine and discovered quickly that what they had in common blew away anything that might have kept them apart. Our students were just so smart, eager, kind, sweet, funny, idealistic and talented that it simply stunned me. It felt like a gift every moment we were them. You can read what they wrote on YJI's website, link in the comments below, but I know they felt much the same way.But what I really want to say is this: I'm grateful to the many good folks whose donations and support over many years made it possible for us to do this and to keep YJI flourishing.Jackie, who volunteers 24/7 to keep YJI moving, and I could not sustain this on our own. We can barely pay our bills. It's because so many terrific, generous people help us that this incredible charity exists.I wish that every one of you who has helped YJI could have been there with us in Istanbul, if only for a little while, to see what you've made possible. It is a gift to the world and to the future we all hope for.Thank you. ... See MoreSee Less
