Nope, dogs and cats are not on the menu in Haiti, our reporter in Port-au-Prince writes. Also, see the cute pictures of her own dogs and cat.It turns out, not surprisingly, that people in Haiti are kinder and more loving toward dogs and cats than Donald Trump has ever been.Youth Journalism International student Naïka Jean wrote from Hatti that "in every Haitian household, there’s at least one pet, whether a dog or a cat. I am happy to share that the national Journalism Education Association is honoring me in Philly this fall by naming me as one of four "Friends of Scholastic Journalism." As a huge fan of the late Ed Asner, it's especially delightful to me that years ago, the "Lou Grant" television show won the same award - as did the real life heroes Mary Beth Tinker, a champion of student free speech (she's from Iowa! <3) and the National Federation of Press Women. Thank you to my friend, the wonderful journalism teacher Mitch Eden, for nominating me!
