Smorgasbord: Eat, walk, repeat

Williamsburg, New York, U.S.A. – Smorgasbord, a food market with a variety of stalls in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, is a foodie heaven. With many vendors to choose from, I was pleasantly delighted with the options I chose.

I started with pork and chive dumplings from Destination Dumplings, which is known for their twist on traditional dumplings. I got a classic, but you can’t go wrong. They were flavorful and juicy. The dumplings had a satisfying texture.

Next, I went to Datz Deli. I ordered a jerk chicken sandwich with mac and cheese on it. It had a tangy aftertaste with a little spice from the sauce, as well as a crunch from the wrapper. The mac and cheese was super creamy. It was my favorite bite of the day.

Then, I walked around Bushwick Inlet Park, which offers a beautiful view of the East Village skyline on a nice day.

Later, I couldn’t resist some freshly shucked oysters from Oyster Party. Oysters have always been my favorite seafood, and these just tasted so fresh with no fishy aftertaste and a hint of mignonette.

After, I had some cold sesame peanut noodles from Noodle Lane. They were a tad too mild, as I normally like my food with more of a spicy kick, but they were delicious nonetheless, especially on a hot summer day.

To quench my thirst, I had a maple peach lemonade from Vermont Maple Lemonade. I don’t love when I can taste the fruit chunks, but once they dissolved, it was a great refreshing treat in the heat. The maple syrup complemented the fruity flavor nicely.

Lastly, I had a dark chocolate cashew donut from Knead Some Love, an Indian fusion dessert spot. It was more of a cake texture than like a donut – super rich and dense. It was a sweet way to end the day.

The atmosphere at Smorgasborg was lively. Each vendor was friendly and I will definitely be back.

If you find yourself in the Williamsburg area, be sure to visit Smorgasbord.
