Don’t choose “macho contest” now

BRISTOL, Connecticut — (September 11, 2001) I found out about the bombing at school and I was shocked and scared beyond belief.

Today is the anniversary of my grandfather’s death, and the events that happened today did not help at all.

I pray that everyone who lost a loved one is consoled and I also pray that our leaders make the right decisions!

I hope that our president thinks of the people who would get hurt if we went to war and that he doesn’t think of this as a “macho contest.”

I hope they act with the responsibility and dignity that we gave them when we elected them as our leaders.

I again hope that we can console each other through this really rough time.

I am only 16 years old and yet I think that I can make more mature decisions than some of our leaders.

I just hope that President Bush thinks of everyone and not just his already guaranteed safety!

I hope that this turmoil ends here….
