Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson joined Liverpool football club in the summer of 2017. Nine years later, they both walk out of the club as legends, having won every club trophy possible.

Listen to one of the authors read this article:

Salah, known as the Egyptian King, departs Liverpool Football Club with 442 appearances and 257 goals across all competitions with the Reds.

For almost a decade, Salah has been integral to Liverpool’s success, contributing in no small part to the highly coveted Union of European Football Association Champions League win of 2019, and the two Premier League wins in the 2019/2020 and 2024/2025 seasons.

His illustrious career with the club came to an end following the team’s disappointing season and his suspected fallout with the previous manager, Arne Slot.

Salah’s departure symbolizes the end of an era for many Liverpool fans who believe that there will never be another player that captures hearts quite like the Egyptian.

Robertson – the Scotsman famously called Robbo by fans – arrived at the club to be a backup player.

But every time he got the chance, he proved he was good enough to be a starter, and eventually that is what he became.

Robertson played each game with passion. He wore his heart on his sleeve and gave his all for the club.

Robertson will undoubtedly be missed, for his footballing ability and his great personality.

The two departing players received an emotional send-off on May 24 at Anfield, Liverpool’s home stadium, following the final match of the 2025/26 English Premier League season.

Both players were visibly in tears as the fans chanted their names for the final time.

They came as men and they leave as legends.
